FAQ'S
  1. IS THERE A FEE?

We are a non-profit agency and there is no charge for our services.

  2. DO WE SCREEN LANDLORDS/TENANTS?

We do not act as an agent for any party, we do not screen the tenants and we do not inspect the accommodations being offered. We provide the rental information so the tenant may inspect the unit and decide for him or herself if the unit services their needs. It is the Tenants responsibility to ensure the unit is legal and meets building code regulations.

  3. I AM BEING EVICTED AT THE END OF THE MONTH. WHERE CAN I GO?

Return to our “Home page”, click on “Shelters”

  4. MY PARENT, WHO IS A SENIOR IS IN NEED OF HELP WITH ACCOMMODATION OR OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES? WHO DO I CALL?

There is a Seniors support service in York Region. They can be reached at 905-895-2381. After contacting them an assessment will be conducted for eligibility. If they only require a subsidized apartment, apply under “Geared to Income Application”. (See question #11).

  5. I WAS REFERRED TO YOU BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT YOU COULD HELP ME.

We maintain a housing registry to assist individuals in securing affordable accommodation that exists in the private rental market. We can help you to find permanent rental accommodation, which includes rooms, bachelor apartments, one, two and three bedroom apartments, townhouses and detached homes.

  6. I AM INTERESTED IN DONATING SOME FURNITURE TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS IT?

There is an "Online Trading Post" for your 'free' gently used items: Click on "Newspaper classifieds", click on "York Region" and click on "ReUseful." "New Beginnings" can also be contacted at 647-567-6056.

  7. WHAT DOES THE HOUSING HELP CENTRE AND ID CLINIC OFFER?

Please refer to our home page and click onto "About Us".

  8. HOW DO I APPLY FOR RENT-GEARED-TO-INCOME? (SUBSIDIZED)

At the top of our 'Home Page' you will click onto the icon that reads 'Geared Income Application".
